This webinar will cover the basics of a career in the U.S. Foreign Service: factors to consider before pursuing a Foreign Service career; the hiring process; prospects for advancement; and the unique opportunities, challenges, and dangers it entails. Today’s Foreign Service Officers reflect the diversity of America and come from a broad range of academic and professional backgrounds. With an average entry age over 30, many new officers have already been successful in other fields before entering the Foreign Service. Ambassador Emil Skodon will draw on his long career traversing the globe on behalf of the United States to offer a personal perspective on the pluses and minuses of a Foreign Service career.
